I know I have some Irish readers who were wondering if I’d be doing a meetup while I’m in Dublin, and I have good news! The event will be a double-header: I’ll be giving my talk “God’s Lady Problem” on the intersection of atheism and feminism, and David Horgan, writer of http://www.jesustheremake.com, will talk about the portrayel of Jesus in movies.
Thursday, June 21
7:30 pm
Bankers Pub on Trinity Street, Dublin 2
Everyone welcome, free
Hosted by Atheist Ireland
Facebook event here (delightfully titled “Jesus and Jen”)
It should be interesting. I’m landing at 8am that morning, so I might be delirious from jetlag. It’s also my first time attempting to give this talk without any slides… How will I ever survive without internet memes?! But regardless, it should be a lot of fun. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

Probably not the best person to give advice here since I essentially gave myself jet lag w/o flying this weekend, but when you get in I suggest the following:
Get to your hotel and take a short nap – no more than a few hours. Then stay up as late as you can.
Have a safe flight. Hoping to see your talk, but regardless enjoy Dublin!

I’m on the other side of Ireland so I won’t make it.
You should come west the next time you are in Ireland.

Can’t wait for this! I’m sure the jetlagged delirium will only make things more interesting :)

Jen,
As far as I know, we at Atheist Ireland are still doing what we can to secure a projector for your presentation. If we can’t get one, you can put your presentation on http://www.slideshare.net/ and share it with a QR code. Anyone with a smartphone or tablet (most of us) can follow along.

Of course it does. The “East” coast is on the Irish sea and the “West” coast is on the Atlantic! Mind you with the new inter city motorways you can go coast to coast in about 2 hours (Approx 130 miles). Prior to the new motorways it could take 3-4 hours.

Invasions always bring much needed stability to a region

Will I do that too?

Looking forward to it. Probably need to go on my own though as none of my mates share my “stance”. Ah, the joys of “Catholic” Ireland. :) But I’m not passin up this chance to hear you speak. :)

I could ask if I can borrow a projector from work – would that help?
We don’t have a portable screen though – since there are plenty of white walls and whiteboards here – that might be more difficult to find in a pub.

“Jesus and Jen?” Why does Jesus get top billing over you?

The trainride from Dublin to Galway is really quite lovely, I must say.
